Running uphill in thailand

I woke after a thoroughly peaceful sleep. I’m staying in a place called the sanctuary on an island called Koh Pha-ngan just off the mainland of Thailand. I first visited this spot almost 20 years ago back in 2003. Since then I have returned many times always to find peace running on the trails, trekking in the jungle and eating the delicious healthy food that island has to offer. After showering and having a coffee at the bar in the sanctuary I made my one hour trek through the jungle whilst listening to a podcast from trail tales about the Appalachian Trail. Once through I jumped on my scooter and drove to the 7-Eleven where I parked up and started my uphill run. You cannot drive to the sanctuary so I park my scooter this side of the jungle and hike through each morning and evening. Today was hot as always and I made my way up the hill. This is a road run and my plan was to go out for 5 miles then return making the running total at 10 mile run. Along the way you gain almost 600 m of elevation and lose the same amount on the descent. I enjoyed keeping my heart rate low, breathing and being patient with the climb up the mountain. After getting to the top came the fun, running back down there is a 3 mile section where it’s pretty much downhill continuously without any up, I ran my fastest mile here in the past. After the run I went and ate a mushroom soup from the farmers organic market stall. Pretty delicious. I also had a mango and papaya smoothie which I asked the lady to add five scoops of my Purition vegan protein powder to. I then took some coaching calls with my Run Coaching Clients. One of them has an eight hour running event coming up. His name is Ed he is progressing really well and I’m expecting great things of him. All in all today was a good day. I finished off the day with a herbal sauna and a yellow curry with mushrooms and tofu at my favourite restaurant called mama poohs.
